Noodle Partners and the University of Washington Strike Innovative Partnership to Bring Degree Programs Online

UW’s Information School to deliver Master of Science in Information Management program online

The University of Washington selected Noodle Partners, the fastest-growing online program manager, to bring the Information School’s Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) degree to life in the virtual world. The program will launch in March 2021 and will prepare graduates to be socially conscious and data-driven contributors in their information management careers.

The UW Information School (iSchool), now ranked #3 in Information Systems among library and information schools by US News and World Report, became an independent school in 2001, the same year it began offering the MSIM. It has since grown to become an important link connecting society with the information it needs.

The iSchool is a leader in the growing field of information management, an academic discipline that explores the organizational processes facilitating the interaction between information, technology, and people—for the advancement of science, business, education, and culture.

“Every organization operating today, large and small, is an information organization,” said UW iSchool Dean Anind K. Dey. “Our students learn to understand the organizational processes that collect and analyze data — skills that are essential to lead change, support growth and drive innovation.”

The MSIM program is especially relevant today as leaders from every sector must identify, evaluate and properly utilize sources of information to make life-saving decisions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, students enrolled in the MSIM began their graduate school search looking for an MBA, Data Science or Business Analytics degree, but found the MSIM to be an appealing alternative — especially given the program’s clear emphasis on addressing equity in times of crisis.

“The cornerstones of MSIM are information management, strategic leadership, ethics, systems thinking and data analysis,” said Hala Annabi, UW iSchool Associate Professor and MSIM Program Chair. “We offer transformative opportunities to students from all academic disciplines. Simply put, we give them the skills to change the world.”

Noodle Partners works with more than 20 innovative higher education institutions on dozens of high quality online programs; the MSIM is the company’s first program in partnership with an information school. As a leading member of the iSchool movement, the University of Washington is a model for other information schools around the globe.

“UW is a standout leader in the information management space. The practice of responsibly gathering and using information is growing more important every day, and especially as we enter an age of increased uncertainty,” Noodle Partners Chief Strategy Officer Lee Bradshaw said. “It is so important to bring this program online and make it accessible to adult learners across the country and the world.”
